I'm betting there are many families with two working families for whom the lower of the two salaries doesn't pay for much more than the childcare. But the parent can't leave work for a few years or they will face a tough road to get back into their field, or what they really need is the healthcare benefits, etc. SAHMs provide child care during the day. That is their only difference from other working parents. Many working parents don't receive high salaries or even much in the way of benefits for their jobs outside the home. So why should we have to supplement SAHPs?[/quote]
