Asian-American woman here. I’d say most of my AA friends are attracted to white guys because of their looks and how they treat women. AA guys tend to take them for granted.
White woman married to an Asian guy here and IMO there’s definitely some truth to this. Neither my DH nor anyone in his family ever had any expectations that I’d act like a proper Korean wife/DIL. Of course I love my in laws and treat them respectfully, but I don’t even come close to meeting the bare minimum bar of what they’d expect from a Korean woman who should “know better”. So much “bad” behavior from me gets hand-waved away because I’m white. Making a good faith attempt to learn the Korean language and cook a few Korean dishes is already exceeding baseline expectations in their eyes. That’s just bare minimum table stakes for a Korean woman! I totally understand why American women of Korean descent would rather not place all those burdensome expectations on themselves, when they can so easily escape it by marrying someone from a different background.
