Because it’s a really sh*tty feeling when you realize that someone doesn’t understand that you’re a human being whose skin functions just like theirs. If a person with fair skin can get a tan why on earth couldn’t a person with darker skin tan? I can almost see them thinking “Wow, she’s just like me!” Thankfully none have been ridiculous enough to say that part out loud. [/quote]

I don’t understand why this would bother you.  We’re all different and realistically your skin has more melanin and will react differently to sunlight.  Try not to be so easily offended and if you can help educate a fellow human on our differences then we’ll done.[/quote]

Do you tell all people of color they shouldn’t be so easily offended? I really think you should start saying it to people you know in real life (especially at your place of work, if you have one). I can assure you it will go over delightfully![/quote]
