OP, I have dealt with it as a child welfare worker.  Just be honest with the worker and let them know why you did it, you didn't realize it was an issue in the US, you called the doctor to look at it (and take your child if recommended), apologize and just answer their questions honestly.  It was an appropriate thing to report but most likely it will not escalate into anything.  Just know its not an acceptable cultural practice here (which you didn't know) and just say that to them.  Most of these posters have no idea what it is or why its done.  They don't get its really not considered any different then acupuncture in some cultures but the leaving bruises in a child is an issue.  I used to do a lot of cupping and would get questioned at work as people didn't know what it was so they assumed my spouse was abusive.    And, don't assume the worker knows what it is as many would not.[/quote]
