OP, thanks for the update, but this is just a completely insane situation. It's been four months and the dog is only getting worse? What is the dog now -- like 8 months old? It is going into puberty and if it isn't trained now, it's going to be such a disaster. If you had rehomed the dog as a puppy, it would have been so much easier for someone to try to train it. It's only going to get worse and worse as time goes on.
I agree and frankly, they both dropped the ball. 8 month old large breed is peeing constantly? WTF? My 4 month old medium to large breed hasn't had an accident in weeks. Dog should have been surrendered as a puppy or, ideally, never brought home in the first place. This is insanity. Someone needs to commit to this dog. That can be OP and DH or another family, but no one is doing right by this animal. I am not someone who says, "surrender the dog" very often, if ever, but this animal is not getting what it needs to thrive. Puppy daycare doesn't count, it needed (and still desperately needs) training. A board and train might be an idea, but you have to be prepared to be trained yourself and constantly reinforce those concepts, knowing you're behind the ball on all of this.
