PP: This is an interesting analysis. You are correct because some of Elrich’s biggest supporters live on that street in Chevy Chase. The name escapes me but it’s the uber wealthy. Why are older voters not bothered by Elrich? Is it because most are retired and don’t have to endure horrible commutes to VA for work? Is it because the higher property taxes don’t bother them since they have residency in FL? Is it because the issues that plague MCPS no longer bother them (yes I’m aware the CE has no jurisdiction over education but parents that moved to MoCo for schools are seeing red right now).
I can't speak for Chevy Chase, I'm talking about Takoma Park and Silver Spring. The uber wealthy seem to hate Elrich because of high taxes. But the moderately wealthy based on property values (that's what i meant by old money - not the Country Club type, but the people with federal jobs who bought property in the 80s) in Takoma Park. Them plus lower income service workers. The new money, UMC private sector, business class hates Elrich and yes they are probably more affected to commutes to VA and regulations in Moco.
