Coach here again,

While it hasn't happened to me, I have had other coaches get the crazy parent(s) who texts at odd hours of the day and has called / created endless emails over silly issues. Usually it gets resolved eventually - but it can be hell for a while. I could see a coach going through that and deciding in the future that it's just not worth it. You can text via TeamSnap without making your number public...

I know, I get it. Personally, my phone has never blown up with ridiculous TeamSnap messages at all hours. I can't possibly relate to getting a TeamSnap notification 2 hours before practice that the time has changed to a different field and a earlier time. Or messages about Johnny leaving his cleat at the field and did anyone pick it up.

Poor baby coach can't provide the number up front. Soooo many calls at all hours of the day.....

Clearly the coaches are triggered. But lets be honest, you don't provide the number because your wife doesn't like you talking or texting with the soccer moms at all hours. Just tell her your talking to Jake from State Farm next time.

Coaches that are good at their job are not afraid of sharing their number. Clearly, you just happen to believe you are good at your job. If you have had lots of parents every year complain to you about pretty much the same thing then I’ve got news for you buddy, it’s you not them. Spare me the “playing time” crap. A GOOD coach sets good parameters and communicates with the players and parents clearly where a player stands, their strengths and weaknesses and how they relate to playing time.

Good coaches get ahead of those situations and walk the parents through the process. The “Me Coach, You Parent” Tarzan speak doesn’t cut it and just gets the results you hope to avoid by not listing your number. As a coach you are a teacher to both the player and the parent. The only way to teach is to communicate and to do that you must be open to communicating not just on your terms but the player and parents terms.

But instead you purposely leave your number off because you view the parents on your team as adversaries. This is what makes coaches like you dicks. [/quote]
