Both my DD's coaches numbers are listed in Teamsnap, as well as their emails. I've had a handful of conversations with them over the years and they both seem friendly/approachable, but I have never had a reason to email or text/call them. Even if I did email/call/text they could still ignore or forget to respond, so I would still probably try to catch them in person after practice or a game if it were something that my DD could not discuss with them herself.
The world didn't end for the coaches with their phone number listed? Crazy if true.
Not as insane as the world not ending for all of us without access to coach numbers. How on earth did we ever make it? What did they do before cell phones and email? Maybe shut their mouths and learned something about the sport? Perhaps even teachers got to teach instead of listening to parents lobby for retests and extensions for their laggard kids. We're all better off with a little privacy, especially with this crowd.
Poor coach, being held accountable.
Believe me, sharing a phone number doesn’t make you accountable at all. You are a nosy nitwit and frankly I would never want to share my info with this parent. Your desire for the information is desperate and obsessive. Just plain weird.
And yet every parent shares all of their contact info without a problem. When did a phone number become a state secret? You know they used to be listed in a book that was free? And if you didn’t want your number listed you had to pay extra to have it unlisted. I don’t need the number and for the 30th time I just find it funny that coaches truly believe they are so special that they simply don’t provide their number like the rest of the team. The lengths that people are going to defending it is equally baffling and hilarious. 1. They are afraid of getting calls at all hours of the day. Umm, no. Place proper protocols like 24 hour cooling off periods. 2. “In business you don’t call you email”. What the hell business is that? In business when a client communicates you answer regardless of the medium. Just ludicrous. It is nothing more than a power play. You’re just a youth soccer coach.
