Legally they should ask for it.   I am married.  My kids and I have been questioned.  It was funny given we were going to join Dad on a business trip.   They ask mine all kinds of questions. [/quote]

Airlines also advise that you have this letter. Friends of mine have encountered problems when traveling without spouses.[/quote]
