Based on the conduct of the parents at the forum last night I’d scratch Murch off the list if I were you. Wow. Just wowwww.
What was the forum? Can you explain? This doesn’t sound good...
The Murch LSAT wanted to start a community discussion about inclusion in our school and about the ways that the school can support the needs of all learners. It is a hugely important topic and has lots of facets, but the session was slated for only an hour and seemed to have a format not suited for the large group of parents and teachers. Ultimately, we need to talk about the racial achievement gap at Murch, is real and problematic. It's a personal and important issue, and one that I am really glad the school is speaking about publicly and inviting community comment about. Emotions were understandably high, but I wouldn't discount Murch because the parents are passionate and engaged and seeking equity in their school. I didn't think the forum was comfortable, but I left proud of our school and community, and ready to hunker down and work towards finding answers and seeking solutions.
