Plus, Jack was just kind of a jerk the whole time. I get that he was offended by what Rebecca's dad said after that first dinner, but a man who loved Rebecca in a healthy way would get that her dad was just looking out for her. Jack is supposed to be this super empathetic guy who values family, but he couldn't put himself in her dad's shoes enough to just think hey, whatever he thinks of me now, I'm going to show him I'm a good man and good enough for his daughter.
