You keep on mentioning racism must be the cause. Against whom if whites her disciplined more than Asians by teachers?
So, if teachers don't discipline Asian students because they believe them to be naturally reserved and lacking in personality, is that cause for concern?
+1 Just picking this comment out to say that we're missing an important point in the cross-fire. You can't add the data on Asian students to "cancel out" the narrative here. The interesting thing is with the data is the difference in behavior + disciplinary decisions when you break the stats out by race. This shows some combination of differences in socio-economic background, behavior, and bias in the classroom. There can be bias toward minority students, Hispanic and Black and Asian, without all those biases being the same bias! People bring their stereotypes, cultural expectations, and prior experiences into situations. Throw in a little confirmation bias and viola!
We should look at the most glaring bias, that against boys. You can't actually think that boys behave differently than girls right? Or perhaps different groups actually do behave differently. Crime statistics once they leave school certainly support this view. I'm sure you think it's "bias all the way down" though.
