Anyone think crime will skyrocket nowafter the aspen hill incident? I’ve read things saying police are hesitant to do their jos now according to Kevin Lewis
Yeah I can see that happening. This happened in Baltimore too. Responding to calls, but not being proactive. I agree police need to follow the rules like everyone else, but the reaction to the incident was telling. Instead of a "let's hear all the facts and see what the court determines" it was an immediate call for changing policies, forming commissions, etc etc. The police felt like no one in the county had their back at all.
+1 I live in Aspen Hill and was pretty dismayed by the response on NextDoor. Especially because the MCPD has been trying to engage people in the neighborhood on a regular basis via NextDoor and outreach events. I was actually pretty shocked that NextDoor let the original post remain up because it was highly inflammatory, IMO.
Me too pp. I am liberal and I was appalled how many people started negatively reacting before getting more information. We have enough crime around that the area gets a bad rap on Dcum, at the very least wait until the incident is investigated before reacting so much. Elrich and other county leaders need to concentrate on business and services and encourage diversity along that path. Without businesses, MoCo is just a bedroom community not generating enough revenue to keep up all the services that make living here more pleasant.
So what you mad cause people have the audacity to be opinionated and outspoken? Aren't you?
DP I’m mad that people want to immediately jump to conclusions without all the facts. The other PP mentioned that it’s worth investigating before immediately disparaging ALL police officers in MoCO.
