Yeah I can see that happening. This happened in Baltimore too. Responding to calls, but not being proactive.
I agree police need to follow the rules like everyone else, but the reaction to the incident was telling. Instead of a "let's hear all the facts and see what the court determines" it was an immediate call for changing policies, forming commissions, etc etc. The police felt like no one in the county had their back at all.
+1
I live in Aspen Hill and was pretty dismayed by the response on NextDoor. Especially because the MCPD has been trying to engage people in the neighborhood on a regular basis via NextDoor and outreach events.
I was actually pretty shocked that NextDoor let the original post remain up because it was highly inflammatory, IMO.
Me too pp. I am liberal and I was appalled how many people started negatively reacting before getting more information. We have enough crime around that the area gets a bad rap on Dcum, at the very least wait until the incident is investigated before reacting so much.
Elrich and other county leaders need to concentrate on business and services and encourage diversity along that path. Without businesses, MoCo is just a bedroom community not generating enough revenue to keep up all the services that make living here more pleasant.
So what you mad cause people have the audacity to be opinionated and outspoken?
Aren't you?

BS.
Asians only make up 14% of the school population of 159,000. Their scores have little effects on MCPS ratings.
Asians did not make MCPS what it was or what it is.
DP
Tell that to the BOE who spends millions of dollars every year trying to close the ‘achievement gap’ and hires companies to do useless studies about the issue of why Asians perform better in school. And then makes an effort to actively exclude those Asians from magnet programs.
Agree that especially after the last free years of MCPS nonsense, many Asian families are fed up and leaving for Frederick or Loudon counties.
I keep reading that on DCUM. People making that assertion have yet to provide any evidence for it, though.

I hear more and more from registered Democrats that would never vote for a Republican at the National level who are utterly disgusted with the absurd identity-based politics that now dominate every conversation in MoCo. I can't think of any conversation that doesn't focus on the coddling of this identity group or that, while bemoaning white privilege. It's clear that the Social Justice Warriors have or are in the process of overplaying their hands. I can only hope that the correction (seen simmering on this post) begins to take hold quickly, before the 2020 election, or Trump and his monarchical allies will be much further towards their goal of effectively abolishing the republic.
That's because you're talking to Republicans who listen to WMAL but registered as Democrats because there's not much point in registering as a Republican in Montgomery County.

Now the county liquor monopoly has been renamed from "Department of Liquor Control" to "Alcohol Beverage Services". I'm not making this up:
https://bethesdamagazine.com/bethesda-beat/business/county-liquor-department-gets-a-new-name/
I bet 90%+ of county residents want the county to be out of the liquor sales business, but the workers there are strong union supporters of Elrich, so no way that's gonna happen.
I thought I actually read somewhere that most MCGEO/county union employees including DLC employees don't even live in MoCo.
Yes, including the outspoken head of MCGEO (Renne). He lives in Frederick County.
