I was fairly good friends with JH for several years. Can’t promise I’ll answer, but feel free to AMA.
Tell us what you know about the divorce and the events leading up to it.
This!
I do not know the exact reasons. Their inner circle is very, very tight. The sheltons, the Pruitt’s, a few others. It should be noted that Tray and Brandon used to be BFFs and it appears they no longer speak. Jen - who was a Jennifer to everyone pre-fame - didn’t really mingle with those outside the inner circle. Even before she was “famous”. She was known for being pretty unreliable. Like if one of us had a baby & she signed up to bring a meal, probably be ready to order pizza. She just wasn’t a very good friend, tbh. She was barely involved in church - that was all Brandon’s gig. She showed up on Sunday, not much else. Definitely not the normal preachers wife. That was handled by another couple of church members, one in particular, and when that lady moved away, all the organizing & fellowship etc ended. There was the inner circle but Jen treated even her dear old friends like she was too busy to be bothered most of the time. You know that friend where you do most of yhe “work”, then you realize it’s pretty one sided, you start to see that they only seem to call you if they need something … that’s Jen. Once she began adding “famous” people to her friend list, that only deepened. You can’t return your friend’s call but you can go on a girls weekend with bloggers you’ve seen in the flesh like twice? Oh, okay. Lots of hurt feelings. Lots.
This is no surprise.- I do know a woman who felt very taken advantage of and hurt because Jenn literally pawned Remy off on her quite often. The woman had a daughter who was Remy’s age and they became fast friends at church. Remy was all of a sudden spending the night all the time with this girl. The mom felt however that it quickly became a baby sitting service and the friendship was never reciprocated. It was very one sided. Kinda like-, “Hey we have better things to do like hang out with our real friends whose kids are all much older. Can Remy stay the night with y’all?” “Can Remy come over to play for the afternoon, so I can do some stuff?” I mean once in a while is fine, but it never seemed that Jen invited the other girl over. And this woman played a big role in the church at one point. I know she felt very used after some time.
That was always my interaction at ANC. I could do things for you, but never be around you. I remember when she wrote Moxie all of the ANC women worked to throw together a big launch party at her house. After volunteering all day I remember asking to use the restroom and being told not to go in Jen’s house. I drove to the gas station to pee. Later the usual ANC clique was laughing it up inside with Rachel Hollis. We left to go to Gateway soon after.
