I actually have no problem with Gary or his wife. As far as I'm concerned, Gary acts like Leah's actual fulltime parent, while Amber drops by when it's convenient. Gary (and his wife) are the ones who are making sure Leah is getting to school daily on time; making sure she has a lunch; making sure she does her homework when she gets home; making sure she gets help with her homework when she needs it etc. . . . To say nothing of the fact that they are there 24-7, they're the ones that comfort her when Amber blows her off. I feel like Gary tried hard for Leah since day 1 -- I remember him throwing her modest birthday parties with her family bc he had to commemorate her 1st birthday -- even though the 1 yr old had no idea. I think the real estate investing is a real thing for him -- not just made for TV. He mentioned it on the show one time and of course Amber was dismissive with ugh -- how many houses do you need!? Apparently he invests in his neighborhood/or a nearby one in single family homes and he was saying to her that he has his eye on owning the whole street and there's only 2 more he need to buy for that to happen. That means if it's a small street -- he likely still owns like 5-6 homes. Good for him -- at least he's planning for his/his wife's/his daughters' futures.
During the "road trip to Corey's" or whatever special, some of the guys brought to Corey why he doesn't allow Remi to be filmed, saying "That's college money right there." Corey's response was that that was already taken care of. The kids do get some kind of compensation for participating, so despite what Amber wants to portray (that missing a month with Leah in favor of filming another TV show means Leah has a college fund, thanks to Amber), the show is setting up their future. And I trust that Gary is actually doing right by Leah with that money. Same with Jo, who catches a lot of shit for not working.
