My daughter's dorm at another school was insane. Private room with bathroom and kitchenette, private fitness center, cafe, and grocery store in the lobby. Lazy river and outdoor pool just for people at her dorm. It was literally resort living. It was ridiculously expensive. The only reason she lived there is because she was on a full academic scholorship and it was part of the package. I would never have paid for it.
My DS's freshman dorm was the opposite. They had two people in dorms built as single in the 1950s. It was as wide a the bunk beds (narrower where the closet was) and about twice as long. They had to share a small closet, no AC, they had to stack the dressers on top of each other to make everything work. It was the cheapest on campus. Bathrooms down the hall and shred with whole hall.
