Thermostat reads 94 degrees. This is a townhouse. A/C broke yesterday so we have stayed one night. But today seems worse. Repair person coming tomorrow between 10 and 12p. We are dying. We purchased two fans but they aren working. I slept for two hours in my idling car early this morning because it was so hot. Should landlord pay for hotel until it's repaired?
Go to HomeDepot and get a window unit or portable AC.
So if we do that does landlord reimburse us? Also putting in a window unit is not as simple as it seems. Window units are prohibited by HOA. Lease doesn't have any language to address this.
landlords typically need to provide heat - if furnace went out they should pay for a hotel until it is repaired, but not air conditioning.
