Asked on his charter plane whether Trump’s questioning of President Barack Obama’s birthplace gave him pause, Romney simply said he was grateful for all his supporters.
“You know, I don't agree with all the people who support me and my guess is they don't all agree with everything I believe in,” Romney said. “But I need to get 50.1% or more and I'm appreciative to have the help of a lot of good people.”

Meh, Romney has nothing to lose by speaking the truth. It's clear that a lot of Republicans (e.g. Ryan) agree with Romney's views, but they are caught between being able to say what they think and worrying about their ability to govern. It would mean a lot more to me if Romney were saying what he is saying while holding elected office.
And let's not pretend for a moment that the founder of Bain Capital and someone who beat up a boy in high school for seeming gay is a pillar of morality. Romney looks great in comparison to the current crop of Republican leaders, but he's got his issues as well.
