oUr experience has been mediocre-many friends went HGC and no peer group in regular class and a lot of boredom. (Love compacted math-so it's the reading and rest of it I'm talking about). A few months and some squeaky wheel has improved the lack of challenging work issue but definitely not a great year compared to other MoCo years. Hopefully 5th will be a bit better, but I'll know to speak up earlier to make sure there is a peer group and challenge. Good side? Not overwhelmed with stress and homework! Every cloud has a silver lining ...
IDK, my HGC kid is almost never stressed or have too much HW. DC is by no means a genius. I keep asking DC why they hardly have any HW. They have projects, but DC usually finishes them in a couple of days. DC is in compacted math, too, and there have been only a handful of math HW that took DC longer than 10min. to do. DC spends most of the time playing computer games after school. But, there was way more HW in 4th than 5th in HGC.
