For this to be useful, people should also specify if they pack their own and kids' lunches, and/or if they eat breakfast at home. If you're not counting what you pay for school breakfast or lunch, or what you spend to buy lunch, or you actually go out for dinner 5x/ month, these estimates are skewed. Maybe the $120/week poster is including those, but I don't know how you could realistically buy so little. Do you live outside of the DC area? Shop only at Costco?
I'm ^^ PP. I have a $500 monthly budget that works out to about $125 a week. We eat out only about 2 times a month. The rest of the meals are eaten at home. Pack lunches for the kids and husband. I work from home so I eat a lot of leftovers. I shop at the local grocery stores, going between Giant & Harris Teeter. I buy conventional fruits & veggies (Organic only if it's cheaper), no processed food. We live in Rockville.
