7 classes. Assume 4 core, 1 foreign language, 1PE and 1 elective for the first 2 years. Then drop PE. If you do 4 years of language, that open 2 electives the last 2 years. But you have use use an "elective" slot somewhere for consume finance or take it online over the summer.
So in the end, you would have 28 classes/credits. If you take Algebra and FL in 8th.... and also take Personal Fin. in the summer -- you would end up with 31 classes/credits? Ultimately, my question is how many electives will my child have (if you assume what I said about 8th grade and Pers Fin.)? Am I right that you get one elective in 9th and 10th grades b/c of PE. Once that is done, you would get three slots for electives each year in 11th and 12th grade (assuming Pers. Fin is a summer class)?
It depends. One each year in 9th and 10th. Then a college bound kid needs to (or should) take the next math class, not just stop in 11th. So 4 core classes junior and senior years. That leaves 3 electives each year. But if you go beyond 3rd year foreign language, that would take a spot each year you do it. Also-- yes many AP classes take the place of core classes (AP Calc or AP English) but some do not. And creative writing and journalism are not English classes. Local base high schools are having curriculum nights now, and they have handy charts and graphs. :D
