It's kid-friendly with a pretty sizable pool on a higher floor that overlooks the ocean, onsite restaurants, sandwich shop, etc.  What we needed when we first went there with our then-1.5 year old was a suite with kitchen and the hotel does have those.  It's well located, there's a CVS you can walk to in under 10 minutes, and I'm pretty sure almost all the rooms have at least a partial view of the ocean.  Almost all of the hotels in Ft. L. are actually across the street from the beach but it's a quick walk and the sand is never crowded.

Only downsides are 1) there's nothing "luxury" about Ft. Lauderdale, but it's a good spot to come down from high-end taste if that's what you're used to, and 2) tall tower of a hotel that casts a shadow over the pool mid-afternoon.   [/quote]
