OP this happened to my DH many times before he landed an offer during his last job search.  He's a senior executive with 25+ years of experience, in a very niche industry.  At that level the candidate needs to be approved by the whole C Suite.  If there is one dissenter or someone who just isn't sure, they just move on to the next candidate....even if HR has given you every indication that you're "the one"! [/quote]

This recently happened to my husband and it was so frustrating only because it was a waste of time. Hours of interviews at the most senior level for a position that they later admitted hadn't been full decided upon and 1-2 members of the leadership team couldn't be convinced it was necessary to the company. Had he known the position wasn't even decided upon he never would have wasted the time interviewing for it. [/quote]
