Couldn't have said it better.  Mattress salespeople remind me of used car salespeople.  Lots of marketing buzzwords, price points, etc...  Throw in the fact that different retailers have mattress manufacturers create retailer-specific brand names (or agree that only 1 or 2 retailers can carry a particular brand) prevents consumers from comparison shopping.

I just want to walk in, lie down, find a comfortable mattress and negotiate a fair price without gimmicky discounts (i.e. 50% off an inflated MSRP to look like a good deal).  I'd also like to avoid a $200  :shock: delivery charge.  That's literally highway robbery, particularly if you're buying a mattress that only costs $500-$800.[/quote]
