Absolutely go to Urban Mattress in Vienna, VA (and get brunch/lunch/dinner at Maple ave Restaurant) we bought a crazy steel slatted bed from R&B and love our mattress from Urban Mattress. We had to return a firm Costco mattress (their "firms" are anything but firm.) the customer service at UM is amazing as well, which is crazy for a mattress store- considering the rest are basically crooks.[[u]/quote] Couldn't have said it better. Mattress salespeople remind me of used car salespeople. Lots of marketing buzzwords, price points, etc... Throw in the fact that different retailers have mattress manufacturers create retailer-specific brand names (or agree that only 1 or 2 retailers can carry a particular brand) prevents consumers from comparison shopping. I just want to walk in, lie down, find a comfortable mattress and negotiate a fair price without gimmicky discounts (i.e. 50% off an inflated MSRP to look like a good deal). I'd also like to avoid a $200  delivery charge. That's literally highway robbery, particularly if you're buying a mattress that only costs $500-$800.
