Husband can not decline an autopsy with a sudden, unexpected death like that. Not his call. And boyfriends don't "quote their girlfriends like that" when something horrible has happened to their supposed girlfriend's mother.
Unfortunately, something very similar just happened with my BIL in Florida. And as long as there is a physician willing to assign a cause of death and sign the certificate, there will be no autopsy. BIL was 48 and found dead on the bathroom floor on a Tuesday afternoon with no evidence of trauma. He was cremated Wednedsay and memorial service was held Thursday at 10am. We ordered a copy of the death certificate with cause of death listed and it was signed by his family practice doc with "cardiac arrest and high blood pressure" as the cause of death. Everyone's heart stops when they die, so cardiac arrest is not a cause of death & millions of 48 year old americans walk around with high blood pressure, so that's not saying much either. But apparently it was good enough for the state of FL!
wat? Just because everyone's heart stops when they die, it does not mean that some people do not dies because their heart stops!
