FCPS pay is much lower than arlington and loudon. FCPS are over burdened with budget constraints due to the low income ESOL populations not located in the McLean area.
There is not a meaningful difference in pay between Fairfax and Loudoun, and Arlington has a higher percentage of low income students than Fairfax. In any event, are you saying these two teachers, in particular, left for higher pay in another jurisdiction?
New Poster. I don't know about Longfellow, but there were several teachers that left McLean HS last year for higher paying jobs elsewhere or similar pay in lower cost of living areas. I don't really keep track, but it seemed like more left this past year than in previous years.
I was at a PTA meeting this spring where the McLean principal reported on a higher than usual level of impending departures. There is also a picture up now on the school's webpage of 20 or so new staff members for the coming year, so it appears they filled the vacancies.
