We are in a similar situation for another school with our dc entering pre-k3. We are currently number 3 on the waitlist at our first choice and not sure how to handle preparing her our ourselves. We are not sure how or if to prepare her for the posibility of starting a new school and then changing? And then there are additional factors such a transitioning iinto the new schoold and aftercare, would we have to re-purchase school supplies?
No reason to prepare your child for something that may very well not happen. You can also decide not to switch even if you get offered a slot at your first choice. But yes, it would be disruptive all around, and you will need to decide if your child can handle the transition and/or if you think the first choice school is worth it. And I think you should be prepared to repurchase school supplies if you switch.
