Oh sorry, I misread. Maybe a 1 or 2 at this point. But still probably not a lot of movement. Good luck

that is great to hear! i've had my share of hyping/creating enthusiasm for so many transitions so this will be the same. i'm another hopeful waitlisted family @ #3. i'm not saying a word until we get the call.

For our twins, the September shuffle in PK3 was not disruptive at all. Everything is so new then and they fed off our enthusiasm for the new school.

repurchasing school supplies is not something to worry about - maybe the new school does not request school supplies.

if you think you may be moving - hold off and bringing in the school supplies if they were a big investment

for PreK3 there is a higher chance that you may move if you are #3 (unless it is LAMB) as some 3YOs (or their parents) are just not ready for school.

but as previously recommended - don't worry about it until you need to move. In previous years it was called the Sept. shuffle as before the common lottery people were able to sit on multiple spots until school started. New friends week one never returned week .

No reason to prepare your child for something that may very well not happen. You can also decide not to switch even if you get offered a slot at your first choice.

But yes, it would be disruptive all around, and you will need to decide if your child can handle the transition and/or if you think the first choice school is worth it. And I think you should be prepared to repurchase school supplies if you switch.

Our 5-year-old has a low waitlist number at a charter (Yu Ying), and is currently enrolled in our local public school. Given that YY is part of the common application, any thoughts on whether he will get offered a spot? And advice on how to prepare him for the possibility of changing schools after school starts? YY starts a week after DCPS.
