Hi All.

My master bedroom is 14' x 18' and currently has a small walk in closet. I'm thinking of building a large walk in closet in the bedroom making the bedroom 14' x 12'. The walk in closet would be about 10' x 6'. I've read 6' is the minimum needed for a walk in closet with clothes hanging on both sides.

To give you some perspective, the room is a large rectangle with the door located in the left corner of a 14' long wall. There is a double window on the opposite 14' wall (centered). If I build this closet, it will be along the same wall as the door, so you will enter the room and the walk in closet will be immediately on the right. The master bath/closet door is immediately to the left when you enter the bedroom (it goes to the current walk in closet and bathroom). I would do away with this small walk in and make the space part of a larger/better laid out master bath.

The bed will be positioned on the wall opposite the bathroom. I would have a queen size bead and two night stands on the wall which will be approximately 12'. The bedroom will also contain a chest of drawers (2.5') and dresser (4'). I envision these on the wall opposite the bed.

I can't envision putting any other furniture in the bedroom (if it stays at the larger size or is made smaller).

Does this sound like a good idea? Am I missing anything? [/quote]
