Also want to add that the school may be finding it a little harder to schedule this year. Last year, the orientation was on a MONDAY AFTERNOON -- which aren't available this year. That was an easy time to have teachers available and the space to have a meeting available. This year, the schools have to find a time when they can get teachers to come at night and find space when there might be other activities going on. They have to come up with a new plan and it may be taking them time to pull it all together. Assume first or second week of May in the evening. (my kid's school has it posted and it is at 6:00 pm. on a weeknight second week of May).
My DC's orientation was not on a Monday afternoon. It was in the middle of the school day on some other day, can't remember which day, but I do remember taking him back to his base school after it was over. Don't assume it will be in the evening.
Just curious - so kids attend the orientation too with the parents? I didn't know.
At our center school, the kids attend. They actually get a separate session from the parents. Kids take a tour of the school while parents get the dog-and-pony show with the principal, AAP teachers and the PTA president. I don't know of any center schools where orientation is parents-only.
