I personally agree with your husband, OP, I hate wrought iron railings. They just look... I don't know, 70s? In any event, they look kind of conservative and dated. I'm from Europe though, so not sure what people think here. I think either wood that matches the stairs would be nice (might be hard to achieve), or white painted wood. In that case, you might want to paint your risers white as well, that's very classic.[/quote]
