Clyde's Tower Oaks Lodge is good if you want something that feels more adult.  But, it's Rockville, and you'll want to make reservations to avoid a wait.  If you're not local to the area: the Clyde's restaurant group is a chain, but Tower Oaks Lodge won't feel like one (really).

For Mexican, I prefer Guapos (at Rio) over Uncle Julios.  Small local chain.

Ichiban has nothing in the way of atmosphere, but their sushi chef is great.  The Chirashi bowl is outstanding. There is also the cook-on-the-table Korean bbq (your private table, where you can cook yourself - not like a Japanese steak house) which the kids might find entertaining, and you get lots of interesting little side dishes with your chosen entrees.  This definitely isn't a place that specifically caters to kids, but we take our 2 yr old there often (at an early hour!) and always see other families with children there.  We are often the only non-Asian people there.
