For Indian: Minerva. Another place with no atmosphere but that is a good choice food-wise.

Not sure how Cava Mezze would work with younger kids (we've not been there since having one), but the food is great. Greek mezze. I'd go at an early hour if you wanted to try it. I think it's technicall Rockville, but it's very close to Falls Grove/Rio so isn't far to go from anywhere in Gaithersburg.

Another similar option is Dogfish Head. Their beers are great, but I'm even less enthused by the food there than at Growlers. (Which all could be because I would almost always rather eat something more ethnic.)

Honestly, I'm never all that enthused by their food, but if you want more typical American fare for the kids plus a few more inventive options for the adults it would work. And it's a brew pub, so if either of the adults like beer, it's good for that.

Some good suggestions here - Guapos in Rio and Coastal Flats in Downtown Crown are 2 of our favorites - only issue is Coastal Flats doesn't have a very large selection of vegetarian food.

If you're open to Rockville, La Tasca is excellent, has many delicious vegetarian tapas, and has a kid's menu.

Somewhere in the Rio or Downtown Crown or Kentlands would be best?

Really depends on the kind of restaurant you're looking for!

Clyde's Tower Oaks Lodge is good if you want something that feels more adult. But, it's Rockville, and you'll want to make reservations to avoid a wait. If you're not local to the area: the Clyde's restaurant group is a chain, but Tower Oaks Lodge won't feel like one (really).

For Mexican, I prefer Guapos (at Rio) over Uncle Julios. Small local chain.

Ichiban has nothing in the way of atmosphere, but their sushi chef is great. The Chirashi bowl is outstanding. There is also the cook-on-the-table Korean bbq (your private table, where you can cook yourself - not like a Japanese steak house) which the kids might find entertaining, and you get lots of interesting little side dishes with your chosen entrees. This definitely isn't a place that specifically caters to kids, but we take our 2 yr old there often (at an early hour!) and always see other families with children there. We are often the only non-Asian people there.

I'll try to think of some other ideas this evening.

Clyde's lodge is pretty close. My family call it our "country club " lol

Downtown Crown has a ton, pretty sure most are chains though.
