Our dog scratches at our looped rugs and we often have to cut off pulled strings. One has actually gotten bare spots where she's scratched too many times. I got a new rug recently and specifically didn't get a looped one because of that.
How tall are the loops? The rug I'm looking at, the loops are pretty short -- probably 1/2 inch. Our dog wouldn't actually scratch at them, but I'm wondering if just running and fetching a ball across the room would snag them. I've never had this type of rug before, so I don't know.
Our loops are quite short. We don't get snags from the dog just walking on it, but for some reasons the looped rugs seem to make her want to nest, so she scratches at a spot. She doesn't do that on other rugs.
