I feel like this is an untenable situation - it is very painful to be around her - I feel deep pity for her while at the same time feeling very frustrated. I have tried so many times over the years to talk with her and it has never worked.

Has anyone faced this and come through it? I feel like she prohibits us from helping her but I can't see any way that this can get better. [/quote]
