[/quote] I'm the pp with butcher block. Honestly, I got it because it was cheap and meant to replace it ASAP... To my surprise, it has worn very well (7 years in), looks good, and is in no need of replacing. 5 years in I gave it a quick go with an electric sander and then it looked like new. I hit it with tung oil once a year, and initially/after sanding I did 3–4 coats of tung oil. Would not bother with wax or mineral oil. [/quote]
