You don't have to move him to AAP now. But you also don't know what immersion or your particular school will look like over the next 5 years either. Since he's already in-pool, I'd go through the AAP process this year just so that if he's accepted you have the option to move him at any time you want. If they're going to screen him anyway based on his test scores, why not present the strongest file you can? Saves more work for you if you decide you'd prefer him to be in AAP later on. I know several parents who didn't pursue AAP 3 years ago for their then-2nd- graders who are doing it for their now-5th-graders so they can be at the AAP center for middle school.[/quote]
