My 7 year old cleans his room when I ask him to. I don't make him make his bad because we are all usually running late in the morning. He has to feed the dog, help set the table for dinner and take his plate to the sink after. When I fold clothes he has to put his away. He also puts the clean silverware away when I'm emptying the dishwasher. He can make himself toast and obj sandwich. He has limited iPad time and tv time, has a bed time of 8 on the weekdays and 9 on the weekends. There are a very small amount of PG13 movies that he can see and he can really only watch certain shows on TV. He can play outside but only a short distance from the house. I sometimes think I am coddling him too much and other times I feel like I'm controlling him too much. What does your 7 year old do? Is there something more he could be doing for responsibilities or anything I can let go and give him more freedom on??
Sounds average. My kids have to make their beds daily and clean up daily without me having to ask them to do so. Bedtime is the same on weekdays and weekends. There are zero PG 13 movies for a 7 year old. (My 9 year old has zero still. Language in PG can be bad enough).
