I feel like I tell my kid he can't go to the movies with his friends because it's a movie that we don't think is that great for a 7 year old. My son keeps asking me why he can't watch so and so, but his friend can. I was just wondering if I was being to controlling by not letting him. It's frustrating because his friend talks about the movies that my kid can't see and I can tell my kid is getting upset about it.

He has to feed the dog, help set the table for dinner and take his plate to the sink after. When I fold clothes he has to put his away. He also puts the clean silverware away when I'm emptying the dishwasher. He can make himself toast and obj sandwich.
He has limited iPad time and tv time, has a bed time of 8 on the weekdays and 9 on the weekends. There are a very small amount of PG13 movies that he can see and he can really only watch certain shows on TV. He can play outside but only a short distance from the house.
I sometimes think I am coddling him too much and other times I feel like I'm controlling him too much. What does your 7 year old do? Is there something more he could be doing for responsibilities or anything I can let go and give him more freedom on??
