To this PP, I would like to respectfully point you to Scripture, which is abundantly clear that our good works do not and cannot save us, and that if we count on them to do so, we are not saved. I don't understand your point about a "literal interpretation" of this. This is what the Bible says. If you read the words, you can plainly see that that is what the Bible says. Ephesians 2:8-9 says that "we are saved by grace THROUGH FAITH, not of works, lest any man should boast." God will not have us on Heaven's doorstep pointing to our actions here on earth and saying that He owes us a place there. I implore you out of a loving, human concern to search out Scripture on this point and prayerfully ask God to make this plain to you.[/quote]
