When is it safe to stop using birth control? I still have regular periods every 28 days at age 49 1/2. I don't think there is much chance of getting pregnant, but I would be devastated if I found out that I was. Is it ever really safe to have sex without some form of birth control if you are having periods. My GP just scared me and told me that the two most common age groups for abortions are 18-25 and 40+.
Did your OB run blood tests to see if you are in or near menopause yet? If you're on the pill it will be hard to determine if menopause has started because the pill is keeping you regular. Blood tests will reveal your current hormone levels. As someone who had an abortion in her late 20s and still thinks about it to this day (20 years later), please don't risk getting pregnant. Getting an abortion is my BIGGEST and most shameful regret.
So sorry. Look into Project Rachel for healing.
