It's a special occasion in that we've just finished major, major projects and haven't seen each other in a long while. We can afford it. I"m just trying to figure out what makes this place so much more amazing than any other B&B and nice restaurant. Is it the food? The rooms?
Well, then go for it. Sounds like it's the right place/time for a reunion. (What were the major projects? PhD's?) I can't speak to the rooms; we've only been for the dinner. It's not just a nice restaurant. It's a whole-evening dining experience. I think what you're paying for is the attention to every. last. detail. It's supposed to be all thought out so you don't even have to ask; they've already provided everything. (And if they haven't, they will, tout de suite.) Though it remains true that there are also plenty of other lovely inns in central Virginia. You would also be happy at L'Auberge Provencale, for instance, or Clifton Inn, or Keswick, etc. The WaPo travel section had a very good profile a couple of weeks ago about the Farmhouse at Veritas winery.
