It needs to dry up and fall off. You can sponge bathe the diaper area for the first couple of weeks and that will keep baby plenty clean. After that, a couple baths a week should be fine, until baby gets more active. Newborn skin is so sensitive. With older babies and toddlers, a daily bath is often appropriate.[/quote]
