Get black out roller shades from Home Depot cut to the right size for your window.  (They do this at the store.) The shades run less then $10 and you can get a yard of decent fabric for $10.  Add in some spray adhesive, some fabric glue and ribbon, spread that cost over several shades, and your cost is about $25 per shade, less if you get a good deal on fabric..
