Get black out roller shades from Home Depot cut to the right size for your window. (They do this at the store.) Then cover them with fabric that complements your decor from a place like fabric.com of Joann's. This is super easy and requires only spray adhesive and maybe some fabric guard to protect the fabric once it's done. You can do a ribbon trim with fabric glue if you feel like making it a bit fancier.
Google DIY roller shade. Here is one site explaining this. This isn't the one I used when I did it, but it's the same basic idea. The shades run less then $10 and you can get a yard of decent fabric for $10. Add in some spray adhesive, some fabric glue and ribbon, spread that cost over several shades, and your cost is about $25 per shade, less if you get a good deal on fabric..

) so I can't spend too much. That seems to narrow it down to honeycomb shades or blinds because roman shades are too much. What's your opinion? Which would look better in that combo kitchen/family room? They would be white, if that makes any difference.
