I've seen some put-down comments on this board about "you must still be wearing boot cut jeans" -- like "you're really out of touch!" But, as an owner of 4 pairs of boot cut jeans and one pair of straight leg, and I'm probably in the 10% of women over 40 who can actually wear skinny jeans (5'6" and 125lbs),.... WHY would we all switch to skinny jeans when we learned during the boot cut phase that the wider ankle balances the width of the butt. We were told (and I agree) that the boot cut flatters by creating a curvy line. I am not one who likes to follow fashion/fads just b/c some random people in Hollywood or NYC say "boot cut is out" -- the reason they are saying "X is out" is b/c they want to get my money. In order to get my money, they have to make me believe that I don't already own what I need. I have jeans. They fit (more or less). Why do I need the new skinny jeans when the same people are the one who convinced all of us that the most flattering style was the boot-cut-balancing-jeans? Now, they want to tell me that the product I bought on their recommendation isn't good enough? And that I should give them more $$ b/c this other product (which is what they previously told me was unflattering) is now really good for me? Are we dumb enough to follow this advice?
