[/quote] Most elementary schools have a provision where the phone is able to be kept off and in the backpack so that the child will have access to it after school when walking home or whatever. It's not like it is being used at school, but if parents want the child to have the phone during the morning commute and during the after school hours it obviously has to spend the in between hours at the school with the kid. If we were talking about elementary kids actually using their phones during school hours, I would agree with you that it is insane, but all we are talking about is it being stored in the kid's backpack while he or she is in class, which I don't find the least bit problematic.
