Evidently her father was a schizophrenic and she was physically and emotionally abused by both parents. I don't know much about psychology but I'm guessing her constant demands for attention and love may stem from her difficult childhood. Obviously her behavior makes me crazy, but I'm trying to be more sympathetic and understanding. I feel like if I can just figure out why she behaves the way she does maybe I can figure out a way to handle her behavior without getting so annoyed. My parents always had great relationships with their in laws and I don't want my child to see the tension I feel when MIL is around. I don't think she means any harm and I know she loves her grandchild more than anything so I would like to work on a more cordial relationship, which means finding ways to accept what I can't change about her.[/quote]
