You can still get your message across - but they will reposed better when you don't put them on the defensive about what their friends and classmates are doing. When you let them "steer" the conversation (with gentle prodding from you), you will find out what you need to know and keep your kids talking to you - which is exactly what you need while they are in high school.

Rather than trying to protect them from any antics that are happening at every school out there you're better off simply talking and being honest with your kids.[/quote]
